The stock S10 brakes won't be any better then what you already have. There is no drop to be had. The engine always gets full synthetic oil and changed every 6,000 miles. They normally update the prices more often than that in my experience. No rust underneath this thing at all.
The Zq8 package started on the later 1st gen trucks. You would be farther ahead to just get drop spindles for your car and upgrade the stock brakes. The brackets don't look all that difficult to make or you could try the Blazer sway like Ryo suggested. The stock S10 brakes won't be any better then what you already have. The style of the wheel was determined if the vehicle had the Xtreme package or not. Anybody else have this issue with these brackets? Don't think you are getting anything special with this spindle. It could likely be added to the Gen 1s with little to no modification too. Truck has all new moog upper and lower control arms. Our brackets require similar grinding to clear the head of the socket head cap screw, however our brackets are relieved to sit flush on the existing caliper mounting ears. However once they were installed I am the only one that has noticed the imperfections because I am the only one who washes the truck and gets close enough to see them. My only complaint is that there were a couple of imperfections on the face of the wheels. Spend the money on known improvements.
The cal-tracs plant the tires by transfering the leverage to the front helping to transfer the weight down on the rear like Rick mentioned. Have paper work on everything. I also had to notch out a area for the allen head bolt. It has a lot of custom work done to it. Mark Don't think you are getting anything special with this spindle. Check out this almost 10 year old post on s-series. Spend the money on known improvements. S-10s and Sonomas used a grey center cap with the exception of the 2002-2003 S-10s, which featured a chrome center cap. In order for them to fit right i had to to a little clearance grinding. . Needs a head gasket,no water in the oil just no compression between cyls 2 and 3. In fact, I have 2 sets of 3rd gens and I use all 4 fronts for my drys and all 4 rears for my wets.
